Beaches K 251, 252, 253, 254 and 255 occupy the second bay south of the point, immediately below and east of the old Koolan township. The five beaches are each located in small creek-carved valleys strung around the 600 m wide bay, with the backing sandstone layered slopes rising to 100 m. Each beach is intertidal, about 50 m in length and fronted by 50-100 m wide mud flats grading into 300 m wide reef flats, which link the entrance to the bay. Only beach K 255 shows a little sand at high tide.
