West of Point Hicks, the beach sweeps in a broad south facing arc for 7 km to Clinton Rocks. This beach is exposed to southerly waves averaging 1.5 m, and to the strong westerly winds, that have blown sand inland from the beach, as massive longwalled parabolic dunes up to 5 km long. These dunes cross behind Point Hicks and spill into Thurra River down a steep 80 m high slip-off slope. The beach can only be reached on foot along the coast track from Thurra River, or by 4WD along the 8 km long Clinton Rocks track. The track terminates in thick banksia scrub on the 40 m high dunes behind the beach, with a steep sandy track leading to the beach. The beach is composed of fine to medium sand, which results in a moderately sloping beach face and a 200 m wide, double bar surf zone. The inner bar may be attached to or detached from the beach, with rips crossing it every 300 m, resulting in up to 25 rips along the beach. A deep trough separates it from the straighter outer bar. A large permanent rip flows out against the rocks just west of the track entrance.
Beach Length: 6.9km
General Hazard Rating: 6/10
