The Colonnades is the western extension of Woolamai Surf Beach, with rock reefs in the surf forming the boundary between the two beaches. This section is 900 m long, faces south-west, and is bordered in the west by the red basalt cliffs of Forrest Caves. Columnar basalt in the cliffs gives this location its name. A few rocks and reefs also occur along the beach. The beach is accessible in the east by the road beside the airfield, and in the west via Forrest Caves.
