At Cape Thomas the coast turns and faces due west. The Cape Thomas beach (143) runs north in a crenulate fashion for 3.2 km. Waves average less than 0.3 m and a few small boats are usually moored in front of the small settlement that extends for 1 km along behind the 15 m high foredune and foreshore reserve. Seagrass debris is commonly piled high on the beach.
