Waddy Point Beach (FR4) runs due south of the point for 1.4 km to Middle Rocks. It is a straight beach containing a moderate gradient swash zone, usually with eight rips across the inner bar including permanent rips against the headlands, then a longshore trough and outer bar. There is a large, bare sand sheet backing the beach, with the sand blowing up to 1.5 km on to the backing Orchid Beach. To assist revegetation, the sand sheet is closed to vehicles. A well-developed foredune and planted casuarinas are now established behind the beach to prevent sand loss from the beach and, over time, the entire 100 ha sand sheet should revegetate. read more
