Gap Beach (NSW 147) can be reached by car or on foot from Hat Head, with the car park is located on bedrock above the beach with steps leading to the boulder beach at the rear. The sand beach varies in size, reaching at most 50 m in length, while the surf zone extends for 200 m between the boundary rocky points. This is an exposed and hazardous beach, receiving waves averaging 1.5 m, with permanent rips against the rocks, and usually a beach rip in the centre.
