Little Bay (NSW 138) is located in Arakoon State Recreation Area. It lies 500 m east of Arakoon village and is surrounded by an extensive picnic area. It is an unusual beach in that the surf zone is largely located outside two 70 m high headlands located just 50 m apart, while the subaerial or dry beach is located inside the headlands in a broader open area. At low tide and during low waves you can walk between the headlands out into the surf, which can extend for 300 m either side of the opening. The surf outside the headlands is also potentially hazardous with waves averaging 1.5 m producing a double bar system coupled with permanent rips against the rocks as well as reefs in the surf. During high waves and at high tide the outside waves may break against the cliffs.
Beach Length: 0.2km
General Hazard Rating: 7/10
